JAMMU, May 26: Vishwakarma Dogra Labour Union held one-day dharna against the State and Central Governments for not implementing the scheme made for labour class of J&K.
Labourers hailing from different areas of the Jammu province assembled outside Press Club under the banner of Vishwakarma Dogra Labour Union and raised slogans in favour of their demands.
Addressing the gathering, Kuldeep Raj Chalotra said that the union is working for the upliftment of the labour class in the State for the past so many years.
He added that the State and the Central Governments have failed to implement the scheme made for the labour class on the grass root level.
Chalotra further disclosed that hundreds kanals of Government land has been encroached by the land mafias but Government has failed to initiate strict action against them.
He requested the Government to get vacated the land from mafias and allot the same in favour of landless labour class. He also urged the Government to construct a labour colony within municipal limit in favour of labour class before the ensuing Assembly election.
Charanjeet Bitta and Dewan Singh Radha, senior members of the union urged the Government to constitute a separate Labour Advisory Board for the proper utilization of Government schemes meant for labour class.
Among others who spoke were Kewal Krishan, Hardeep Kour, Babu Ram, Madan Lal, Om Parkash, Parveen, Cheena Lal and Devi Ditta.
