JAMMU, July 12: Concerned over increasing pollution which is posing a grave threat to ecology and environment, the Vishav Pariyawaran Trust headed by Mahamandleshwar Baba Arun Giri Ji is taking out a year long yatra from Mata Vaishno Devi to Kanyakumari highlighting the importance of protecting environment and plantation of trees to save ecology.
The yatra will start from Mata Vaishno Devi shrine on August 15 this year and conclude at Kanya Kumari on August 15 next year. This was stated by Girish Joyal national convener Rashtriya Muslim Morcha, Abay Pargal, J&K working president Himalayan Parivar, Gulshan Kumar convener J&K Muslim Morcha and vice president Vishaw Nari Sangathan Sneh Bali while talking to reporters here today.
They said the yatra will pass from 10 States and cover a distance of 4500 kilo meters during the year by covering 15 kilometres daily. A hawan will be performed daily in a portable havan Kund which has been purchased for Rs seven lakh and which will be fitted in a van. He said whosoever will participate in the yatra has to perform five Ahutis for cleaning environment, for world peace, for his own prosperity, for prosperity of his nation and betterment of the entire universe.
During the yatra, a message of peace and universal brotherhood will be spread. The yatra will be led by Baba Arun Giri Ji Maharaj under the supervision of senior RSS leader Indresh Kumar. Mr Girish will be its national coordinator while Abhay Pargal will be its State coordinator.
Mr Girish said environment degradation is posing a grave threat to universe and if effective steps were not taken to protect the ecology and environment it will spell a doom for the entire humanity in future.
He said every one is talking about global warming and many debates and discussions are being held in this regard but so far no practical steps were taken to protect the environment and ecology.
He said the Trust has now taken an onus to itself and during the year 5.50 crore trees will be planted by the volunteers of various organizations coordinating with the Trust.
He said the Kedarnath Cloud burst and flash floods, floods in Kashmir, cloud burst in Ladakh, recent floods in Chennai, Hilly areas of Uttranchal etc were the cause of environmental degradation and if we fail to hear the writing on the wall it will be too late to save this planet.
He said Himalayas are the origin of 5000 rivers and these rivers are important source of human prosperity but if the forests are cut the rivers will become extinct with passage of time causing a threat to human prosperity.
