NEW DELHI: Disturbed over the large-scale violence in Haryana by followers of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Ram Rahim, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today sent out a strong message to those taking law and order into their hands, saying violence in the name of faith will not be tolerated.
”Everyone, whether any individual or a group, will have to bow before law of the land,” the Prime Minister said in his monthly “Mann ki Baat” radio programme.
His warning comes close on the heels of lakhs of followers of the controversial godman going on rampage across the state, leading to the killing of over 30 people.
Mr Modi said violence whether it was communal, political or in the name of tradition or out of faith in any individual will have no place in the country. “The law will fix the accountability of all and punish the guilty,” he said. The Prime Minister underlined that India was a diverse country which had to be respected. (AGENCIES)
