Villages without electricity, road connectivity

UDHAMPUR, May 4: Even after more than seven decades of independence and despite numerous centrally sponsored schemes, ten villages of Badhota and Galiote Panchayats in Panchari tehsil of district Udhampur are still without electricity and road connectivity.
Inhabited by more than 5000 souls, these villages are still waiting for the electricity and road connectivity.
The private company which was assigned the task to electrify these villages under first phase of RGGVY could not complete the work. All the materials got wasted and the department did not care about the same.
“In the starting of year 2017, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announced that the Government had allocated Rs 4,843 crore to electrify the rural areas under the Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana in financial year 2017-18 but there is no implementation in the same in J&K   so far,” the villagers alleged adding that hilly villages having population of more than 600 souls in each hamlets, they were still deprived of the road connectivity also.
Pertinent to mention that there are Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Grameen Sadak Yogna (PMGSY), Central Road Fund (CRF), NABARD and several State sponsored schemes which ensure electricity and road connectivity to every village having minimum population of 250 souls.
