Villagers protest for supply of drinking water

UDHAMPUR, Apr 16: Locals of village Balian (Battal Balian) in Udhampur held a protest against PHE Department for no regular supply of drinking water to the area.
The protesting villagers raised slogans against the PHE Department as well as the district administration for their failure to supply the drinking water. They also threatened to block main road  if no action is taken on their grievance.
The protesting villagers claimed that there was no regular supply of drinking water for the last six months with the result that they were dependent on  natural source of water due to which small kids and elderly people were catching  intestinal problems and infection.
“Majority of inhabitants of Balian have  become victims of diarrhea because of  drinking water mixed with grubby and mud for the several months. We informed  the higher authorities time to time  but in vain,” they added.
The protest demonstration was joined by Badri Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Gouri Lal, Vijay Kumar, Neelam Devi, Kuldep Singh, Chuni Lal, Sunil Kumar,  Khem Raj, Soon Singh Krishan Singh, Angrez  Singh, Thakur Dass, Yashpual Singh and many others.
