MENDHAR, Feb 4: The villagers from Khera Tappa area today locked local Govt High School as its building is in shambles and its two rooms are occupied by a villager to keep building material there and the children have been left to suffer.
Reports said during rain, the water pours down from ceiling of the rooms and veranda as the building was in dilapidated condition. There are hardly four rooms in this High School and two of them have been occupied on the behest of local Sarpanch for keeping cement and other material being used for the construction of Panchayat Ghar, just closer to school.
There are eight teachers and nearly 250 students in this school. As the school was found locked and children waiting for teachers during rain in Varanda, the villagers locked school and started protest. The headmaster and two teachers arrived after 2.30 pm and the villagers expressed their strong resentment.
Later, the villagers moved to the office of SDM and lodged their strong protest. The SDM contacted CEO Poonch and DyCEO and ordered an inquiry into the matter in presence of Tehsildar Mandhar. The villagers then returned.
