UDHAMPUR, Apr 30: Locals protested against the Public Works Department (PWD) and District administration for not repairing the wooden bridge at village Jandror, Block Nili, in Ghordi.
The protesting people raised slogans against the Public Works Department (PWD) as well as the District administration and said that the bridge established by PWD there was in very bad condition for the last five years.
“More than 500 children of the area use this bridge daily for going to school while hundreds of villagers come and go every day for their daily routine,” they said.
There are big cracks and holes in the wooden bridge, which is partially damaged thereby posing a serious threat to the safety of people, they added
This wooden bridge connects Ghordi with Nili, Chowki Jandror, Surni, Badol and Dalsar. Patients rushing to Primary Health Center, senior citizens, and general public have no other alternative route but to cross through this damaged bridge.
Locals have requested the Government authorities to immediately repair this old wooden bridge.
