REASI, Sept 19: Peeved over the no supply of water from last three weeks, locals staged a strong protest against the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department and district administration, here today at Kheral village of Reasi.
A large number of locals, including females , Sarpanch and Panches from Ward number 3, 4, 6 & 9 assembled at Cheter and blocked the main road for several hours . They alleged: “From the past 21 days , there is no drinking water supply in our locality and we are suffering to meet our basic requirements.”
“As the coronavirus is spreading fast and doctors are advising precautions such as frequent hand washing, how can we manage this without water for weeks,” they rued and raised slogans against the concerned authorities.
The villagers said that they had repeatedly complained about the same to the concerned authority but all in vain. “The concerned officials of Reasi are least bothered about the supply of drinking water to the area,” they alleged.
Later on, PHE officials reached the spot along with district officials and pacified the protesters by assuring that the problem would be addressed at the earliest.
