Villager’s body recovered, relatives protest

POONCH, June 30: The dead body of a 50- year- old man was found under suspicious condition in Jaran Wali Gali area of Surankote in Poonch district last evening.
After being informed by locals, a police team rushed to the spot, took body into possession and shifted it to Sub District Hospital, Surankote for legal formalities.
Deceased was identified as Mohd Bashir, son of Mohd Shafi, a resident of village Gursai, in Tehsil Mendhar, Poonch.
Station House Officer, Niaz Ahmed said that investigation under 174 CrPC has been initiated.
Meanwhile, family members and relatives of the deceased staged a protest against Health department, alleging that SDH Surankote and administration did not make appropriate arrangements for preservation of the dead body till post-mortem can be conducted and moreover they delayed the post-mortem process.
SDM Naeim- Un- Nissa Bhatti and SDPO Sameer Jeelani reached on the spot pacified the protestors.
Meanwhile, SDM Surankote ordered an enquiry and constituted a four- member Committee on the basis of the complaints. It will submit report within seven days.
