NEW DELHI, Dec 1: General secretary of Apni Party, Vikram Malhotra met Deputy High Commissioner of Australia Ian Biggs during the All India Youth Dialogue-2022 (Australia-India Youth Dialogue), here today.
During the meeting, Malhotra had a detailed discussion with the Deputy High Commissioner of Australia with regard to the prevailing political situation in J&K.
In this discussion, Ian Biggs urged the need for restoration of statehood and holding of Assembly elections in J&K without further delay, so that an elected Government can rule the erstwhile state for the welfare of the general masses of both the regions.
Vikram Malhotra informed him that the Government of India has assured on the floor of that Parliament that statehood would be restored in J&K.
Meanwhile, Malhotra appraised him about the political situation and also informed that the delimitation process is under way and hopefully the elections may be conducted thereafter.
Biggs stressed for the initiation of political process in J&K and was keen for the return of peace and normalcy. He, however, was worried about an increase in violence in Kashmir.
