Vikar, Lal Singh take stock of people’s grievances

KATHUA, Mar 3: A public grievance camp was organised by Member Parliament Doda Udhampur Parliamentary constituency Ch Lal Singh in which Minister of State Technical Education, Law, Justice, Parliamentary Affairs, Rural Development and Panchayats and Social Welfare, Vikar Rasool was the chief guest.
Public grievance camp was attended by Ex MLA Basohli Kanta Andotra, Panchs and Sarpanchs from far off areas of Basohli, Hiranagar, Billawar and officers of district administration.
Panchs and Sarpanchs put forth their grievances related to the widow pension, damaged transformers, distribution of ration supply, regular electricity supply to water pumps, wages under MGNREGA, BPL ration card etc.
Vikar Rasool while addressing the gathering said that Government under the able guidance of Omar Abdullah and with the liberal funding from the Centre Government is striving hard in every sphere for the wholesome development of the State.
While responding to the issue of empowerment of the Panchayats, he said that Sarpanchs and Panchs have been given control over the development in their areas with respect to the schemes under 14 Government Departm-ents and it is for the elected representatives at the grass root level to implement these schemes for desirable and balanced development of the people and the area.
He also assured the people that their grievances related to the damaged transformers, regular electricity supply to water pumps, excessive electricity bills will be looked. He said that in order to streamline the electricity supply it is imperative to overcome the financial losses and it is possible only with the active participation of the public in maintaining the fiscal discipline of the department.
Vikar assured the people that pending cases related to the widow pension and old age pension would be expedited. He also assured that ration quota will be enhanced after the same is issued against the figures of population census 2011 and every effort will be made to do away with the bottlenecks and hurdles in the smooth distribution of the ration to each and every area of the state.
The Minister also informed that very soon the wages under MGNREGA will be enhanced to Rs 150 per day. He also assured the Panchs and Sarpanchs that he would visit the blocks and address the grievances of the people.
Lal Singh exhorted upon the Panchs and Sarpanchs to work and contribute for the development of the society and people. He said that Central Government has launched many welfare schemes for the masses and it is their duty to percolate the effects of these schemes deep down into the masses so that no deserving person remains out of their ambit.
