Vigilance produces challan against then DPO

SRINAGAR, Mar 28: Vigilance Organization Kashmir today presented charge sheet against then District Panchayat Officer (DPO), Kupwara, who is accused of abusing his official position for pecuniary benefits.
Challan in case FIR No  117/2005 P/S Kupwara,  against the Government public servant (now retired) Ghulam Mohammad Brakboo, was presented  in terms of Section 173 Cr PC before the   Anti-Corruption Court, Baramulla.
The case was registered on the allegations that the DPO in league with the self help groups of Kupwara, purchased sub-standard sanitary items and supplied to different BDOs on highly exorbitant rates, resulting in loss to the State exchequer.  During investigation it was established that the accused has abused his official position and conferred pecuniary benefits/ advantage upon the accused beneficiaries and arrayed as co-accused in the instant case.
The investigation of the case was concluded as proved against the accused for launching prosecution following which  the supplementary challan was produced.
