RAJOURI, Dec 19: Member Legislative Council, Vibodh Gupta today issued directions to Health Department urging it to ensure complete implementation of Free Drugs Policy in District Hospital Rajouri after some patients in Emergency Ward of Hospital were found to have purchased medicines from market.
Gupta issued these directions during surprise inspection of hospital in the morning hours.
The MLC inspected the Hospital to take stock of health facilities available to masses there.
During inspection, MLC interacted with patients and their attendants in Emergency Ward and found that about 30 to 40 percent of medicines have been purchased by them from private shops in markets and rest have been provided by hospital authorities.
Taking note of this, MLC has issued directions to Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Rajouri to ensure complete implementation or Free Drugs Policy in hospital and to ensure that all medicines included in this policy are made available to patients without any excuse.
Medical Superintendent informed MLC that there is shortage of about 30% medicines under Free Drugs Policy from Medical Supplies Corporation which is leading to some problems.
Later, MLC visited CT Scan and other sections of hospital to take stock of the functioning of these sections also.
He directed Hospital Administration to ensure that all the bathrooms of hospital are made functioning at the earliest.
Later, Vibodh Gupta paid a visit to the ward where ICU is being set up and announced release of rupees 3.5 lakhs for ensuring immediate completion of unit.
