JAMMU, Aug 12 : Celebrating the abrogation of controversial Article 370, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has decided to honor those leaders and activists of Ek Vidhan Ek Pradhan Ek Nishan Movement of 1953 led by Sher Duggar Pt Premnath Dogra.
Inspired by VHP State leadership, the citizens of Kot, Bhalwal, Gharota, Seri Panditam and Amb of Raipur-Domana Assembly constituency remembered the leaders of the movement by visiting their residences and paying tribute to them by laying wreaths on their portraits.
Tributes were paid to the leaders of 1953 agitation by the citizens of these localities who were led by Shakti Dutt Sharma, vice president State VHP. They, while remembering these leaders and activists of the movement said a dream has come true after over 70 years of their struggle and sacrifices.
The program was organized at the houses of Praja Parishad leaders Pandit Teru Ram of Kot , Pandit Sita Ram of Seri Pandita, Mahant Chiranjeev of Amb, Dr. Babu Ram, Dr. Kavi Raj and Sita Ram Gupta of Gharota. A large number of local people were also present on the occasion.
Shakti recalled the roll of these people. He said they were imprisoned and tortured in 1953 agitation by the police. After BJP Government returned to power at Center, it abolished Article 370 which was part of its core agenda. Families of the Praja Parishad agitation leaders appreciated the move of the VHP by recalling their contribution which paved way for BJP to retain power.
Shakti Dutt Sharma also warned the vested interests who are spreading canards against the abrogation of Article 370 and misleading people of Jammu in this regard. He said entire Jammu and other nationalist people are one on it as the abrogation of the controversial articles was their main demand as these two articles were the base for sowing the seeds of separatism in the State. He said which people of Jammu, Ladakh as well as nationalist elements in Kashmir including Gujjars and Bakerwals , Kashmiri Pandits and other communities were opposed to grant of special status to J&K the fruits of which were eaten by few dynasties who ruled the State over the years.
He said with the abrogation of the controversial articles the people who were deprived of justice during last over 70 years will get justice now and the Pak sponsored terrorism will be completely weeded out from the State now.
On this occasion, Sunil Dutt Raka, Dr. Varun Padha, Sahil Seth and other workers were present.
