Veterans of defence forces hold rally

JAMMU, Oct 12: Veterans of defence forces projected their demand of  proper implementation of  One Rank One Pension scheme without any further delay.
In a rally organised at Bari Brahmana, the veterans hailing from Vijaypur, Raya, Suchani, Ramgarh and Samba area projected their issues and urged upon the Central Government  to honour its commitment and implement the OROP scheme in letter spirit. They said the announcement was made on September 5 by the Union  Defence Minister but its implementation is still awaited.
They pointed out that the veterans continued to disagree on certain issues and they are needed to be addressed. They referred to the changing of the basis of implementation  of OROP from April 1, 2014 to July 2015; exclusion of premature retirees from the benefits and introducing them as Volunteer Retirement Service (VRS) as a golden hand shake which is non-existence, non-terminology and illegal; OROP not referred to 7th Pay Commission; Govt proposal to rationalize pension once in a five year and not annually and non-representation of ex-servicemen  in the Committee.
Brig S S Singh, Brig K K Lakhanpal, Brig Uttam Singh, Col Kamal Singh, Col S S Jamwal, Col Prem Singh and others spoke on the occasion.
