JAMMU, Oct 1: Eminent theatre critic and author, Mahesh Anand featured today at Natrang’s International Theatre Talk Show live on Natrang’s Facebook Page where he shared his valuable vision of theatre with the global audience.
Director Natrang, Padmashree Balwant Thakur stated that Natrang’s exemplary endeavour to feature eminent theatre personalities of India and abroad to enlighten theatre practitioners with their precious vision of theatre has proved to be a great learning opportunity for theatre enthusiasts and art lovers.
Introducing Mahesh Anand, Natrang’s senior artist Neeraj Kant informed that born in the year 1947 in Kashmir, Mahesh has been associated with a much revered magazine ‘Natrang’ for 24 years. He is a recipient of the prestigious ‘Kriti Samman’ of Hindi Academy, ‘Rang Alochak’ and ‘Nat Samrat Samman’ from Spanish Institution of Ranchi.
He has participated in many theatre workshops and theatre events and has written numerous reviews and articles in almost all the prominent magazines.
In a very informative session, Mahesh said, theatre is a social happening which happens in different layers and every layer contains several perspectives. Theatre, which assimilates writing of the playwright, direction of the director, designing of the backstage team, acting of the actors actually happens in the minds of the audience.
Mahesh very interestingly narrated several important theatre movements and the journey of its development since several decades, he also referred to Bharatendu Harishchandra’s ‘Andher Nagri Chaupat Raja’ as a landmark play with Indian flavour.
Mahesh asserts that there is no dearth of theatre plays available, but a very few are appropriately relevant to be staged.
He firmly believes that theatre shall become part of academics right from childhood so that it enriches the future generations from the very beginning.
