JAMMU, Mar 29: Continuing its 2nd phase of Voter Awareness Program under Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP), District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner) Jammu Ajeet K. Sahu in collaboration with different Transport Associations/Unions of Jammu launched “Vehicles as Messengers Campaign”.
Under this campaign extensive awareness will be created by the passenger vehicles pasted with stickers having slogans and messages regarding importance of voting. As these passenger vehicles will be going to the nook and corner of the Parliamentary Constituency, these vehicles will act as special messengers and will have maximum reach as common masses generally use this mode of transport. The stickers also depict the poll timings, toll free number of the DEO Jammu and the appeal by the DEO for exercising Right to Vote. More than seven Transport Associations of all the major routes of Jammu Division (Of Buses, Mini Buses, Auto Rickshaws) extended full support to the campaign and were present on the occasion.
On the occasion, Mohinder Singh, President Bus Association appreciated the endeavour of the District and assured full support of all the Transport Associations to this novel campaign, also as a part of their social responsibility.
SVEEP Team Jammu comprising of K.K.Sidha, ACD, Jammu (Nodal Officer, SVEEP), M.L. Tasir, BDO Bhalwal, Waseem Raja Khan, BDO, Marh and Aijaj Qaiser, BDO, besides presidents of various Transport Association and office bearers were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the Morning Walkers at Akhnoor road park (Shakti Nagar) with the first ray of sunlight in the serene environment of park were sensitized regarding the importance of exercising “Right to Vote”.
The tag line for the Campaign is, “Worried about your health….! What about Nations Health…….!” and the same is making a direct impact on the general public. This campaign by the SVEEP team of District Jammu will go on at all the major locations of the city, where the citizens prefer their morning walk.
