Srinagar, Apr 5: A group of youth this evening torched a vehicle that was allegedly used by police to carry out a raid in Hajan area of Bandipora district to arrest a Hurriyat Conference (G) leader.
Sources said that a group of policemen were allegedly beaten up by locals and their vehicle was attacked with stones in Hajan after they had gone to arrest Abdul Hameed, Tehsil president of the Hurriyat Conference (G).
“Two policemen were beaten up and their car was damaged. Due to people’s resistance, policemen fled away leaving behind the vehicle. The vehicle was later torched in the evening”, sources added.
