SRINAGAR, Apr 5: High Court has directed the Government to examine and consider the case of Kashmiri Pandits for allotment of full-fledged quarter keeping in view the Prime Minister’s package and the policy formulated by the State Government for return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants.
Justice Bansi Lal Bhat while disposing of the writ petition of 17 persons who had migrated to Jammu in 1990, directed the Government to examine and consider their case for allotment of full-fledged quarter keeping in view the Prime Minister’s package and the policy formulated by the State Government for return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants.
The court also directed the Commissioner/Secretary Revenue Department, Commissioner Relief and Rehabilitation, Migrants Jammu, Deputy Commissioner Relief Organization Mirgrant, Srinagar and Tehsildar In charge transit Sheikhpora, Budgam, to make the decision for allotment of full-fledged quarter in light of Prime Minister’s package within a period of one month.
The petitioners through their counsel Advocate Nasir Qadri stated that Government of India under Prime Minister’s package has forwarded a recommendation for common building measures for migrants for housing purpose and the petitioners under the package were appointed in various departments of the state in Kashmir valley. They further submited that they and their families were persuaded to return to Valley and were allotted accommodation on sharing basis at Sheikhpora, Budgam.
The grievance of petitioners is that the Government has allocated single residential quarter in favour of those employees engaged under PM’s package and full-fledged set of quarter to families whose wards are reading from UKG onwards and are regular students of various Private and Government institutes, against the provisions and mandate of policy.
