RAMBAN, May 17: A truck veered off the road and rolled down into a Nallah near Nachlana area of Banihal on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway this morning.
According to Police, information was received at Police Station Banihal regarding an accident involving a truck bearing registration number HR58C-1547 moving from Jammu to Srinagar and reportedly being driven in rash and negligent manner.

Officials said that at around 8:10 am, the truck plunged into a Nallah and the driver Harjinder Singh, son of Amrik Singh, resident of Delhi got trapped inside the vehicle.
A joint rescue operation was launched by Police, Army and local volunteers, who retrieved the driver from the damaged vehicle but he succumbed to his injuries by the time he was rescued. The truck was completely damaged in the accident.
Body of the deceased was shifted to Sub-District Hospital Banihal for post-mortem.
Police have registered a case in FIR No. 91/2026 under sections 281 and 106 of BNS at Police Station Banihal, and started investigation.
