SRINAGAR, Jan 1: Vice Chairperson (VC) Jammu and Kashmir Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB) Dr Hina Shafi Bhat today flagged off a group of artisans on 10-day exposure tour to Rajasthan.
The CEO KVIB was also present at the flag off ceremony of the exposure tour organized under Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI) sponsored by Ministry of MSME Government of India and technical agencies Craft Development Institute and Sheri Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences (SKUAST) Kashmir.
During the tour, the artisans will have first-hand experience of better use of new technologies to rejuvenate their respective trades.
Meanwhile, the VC KVIB said that Kashmir in known all over the world for producing finest quality of shawls, crewels, honey and other products. She said the artisans are being sent on this exposure tour to learn the use of new age technologies to improve the production and quality of these products.
She said state artisans are skillful, but they lack marketing strategy. Hina Bhat assured that the Board will help them by creating a marketing strategy to sell their products.
She added that it is disheartening that the Rs 4000 crore exports of Kashmir art have come done and it needs to be revived immediately.
Dr Bhat said that the KVIB will provide platform to the artisans, adding that they need to make better use of what they learn from these units outside the State.
