VC JU interacts with senior functionaries on virtual platform

JAMMU, Apr 6: As a follow up of the video conferencing meeting of Vice-Chancellors with the Chancellor (Lieutenant Governor J&K), with regard to various measures taken by the Universities for prevention of spread of Corona virus and the comprehensive steps taken to compensate the learning in the Universities, Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu today held a meeting on Zoom (virtual platform) with Deans, Rectors, Directors and senior functionaries of the University.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dhar informed that the University has taken several proactive measures for ensuring the safety of the various stakeholders of the University. All the advisories issued by the Government and MHRD/UGC were promptly implemented in the University, he said. He expressed satisfaction that University faculty is actively engaged in providing online lessons through virtual classrooms, e-learning mode and using various social media platforms to ensure their students and scholars studies does not suffer academic loss due to COVID-19 lockdown. He urged upon teachers that they should utilize other online platforms also, prescribed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt of India for the benefit of students.
In today’s meeting Prof Dhar sought suggestions on various steps to be taken by the University for ensuring the safety of teachers, staff and students, once the lockdown is lifted so that the teaching and research activities can be conducted while ensuring the safety and security of the stakeholders. The members gave many useful suggestions and accordingly Vice-Chancellor urged them to draw comprehensive plans for their respective departments/offices, by consulting other colleagues. He suggested that in a series of meetings to be held this week, the University shall finalise and develop a roadmap and all stakeholders and civil society will be duly informed.
In his concluding remarks, Prof Dhar expressed gratitude to all persons who are performing essential duties like administrators, doctors, paramedical staff, scientists, police personnel, pharmacists and those from University of Jammu such as doctors and officials of Health Centre, security personnel, safai karamcharis, officers and staff of Finance wing and others.
