JAMMU, July 18: Prof R.D Sharma, Vice-chancellor of University of Jammu today inaugurated Yuva Dogri Lekhak Seminar at K L Saigal Hall, Academy Complex, Jammu .
This event on the topic `Vartmaan Yug Te Dogri Sahitya’, is being organized by the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages , in association with the Dogri Department, University of Jammu .
Dr Lalit Magotra, Convenor Dogri Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi and renowned Dogri litterateur, presided over the event while Prof R D Sharma was chief guest on the occasion. Desh Bandhu Dogra Nutan, a prominent Dogri writer, Prof Parmeshwari Sharma, HOD Dogri, JU and Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn Additional Secretary, JKAACL were also present in the presidium.
Delivering his presidential address, Dr Lalit Magotra appealed to the Vice-chancellor, JU to include 2 mandatory computer and English papers in the syllabi of Dogri language in the Dogri Department so as to make these students worth to compete with the rest of world.
Prof R.D Sharma said that it is imperative to learn the languages other than the mother tongue and the usage of other resources of World as prevalent in the society presently but at the same time, the mother tongue is more important to effectively deliver the intellect aspect of the community, region and country.
Dr Arvinder Singh Amn high-lighted the importance of the programme which has been started especially for the scholars and students.
Desh Bandhu Dogra Nutan presented a detailed key note address on the topic of the seminar. Prof Parmeshwari Sharma delivered vote of thanks.
