SRINAGAR, Jan 6: The Government of India today nominated Prof. Shakil A. Romshoo, Vice-Chancellor, Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST Awantipora) as a Member of the Governing Body of the prestigious Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology (WIHG), Dehradun, for three years.
Pertinent to mention, WIHG, Dehradun, is an autonomous research institute of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India.
About Prof. Romshoo, he has completed several national and international research projects focusing on the western Himalayas and has published several highly cited papers.
Also, more than a dozen national and international awards have been conferred upon him in recognition of his contribution.
Prof Romshoo is also a fellow at the Indian Academy of Sciences, the Indian Society of Remote Sensing, and the Indian Society of Geomatics.
He currently is a member of several policymaking committees and Working Groups on the environment, water, climate change and disasters.
