VC calls for effective monitoring of infrastructural development projects in JU

JAMMU, Feb 17: Emphasizing the crucial need of collective effort and team spirit for further taking the University of Jammu to pinnacles of excellence, Vice Chancellor Prof. R. D. Sharma today sought focused attention of holistic infrastructural development of the varsity.
“A close synergy and effective monitoring will he highly required to ensure time-bound completion of various infrastructural developmental schemes, Prof. Sharma said while chairing a high level meeting to discuss several issues pertaining to the University.
The Vice Chancellor also stressed on optimum utilization of grants during the 2015-16 fiscal, saying a dedicated effort is needed to be made for utilizing the grants received from various agencies like UGC, DST and other such agencies. He urged the executing agencies to ensure completion of all the schemes in    stipulated time-frame.
Prof Sharma sought strengthening of all departments with necessary infrastructure and other equipments as required and emphasized that all the projects sanctioned should be completed in a time bound manner.
Referring to the placements, Prof. Sharma said that students from the main campus and all off-site campus should be included for placements. He asked all concerned to revisit the MOU’s signed by the University with industries and corporate sector so that students from all the departments and campuses are benefitted.
In order to make students industry-ready, it was decided that the prospective employers/ executives from industry would be made special invitees in Board of Studies of every department.
The Vice Chancellor also called for speeding up all the construction and renovation works so that the necessary infrastructure is in place before the start of the next academic session.
He asked all the Heads of the Departments and Sections to ensure proper  disposal of solid waste and also to reduce wastage of paper.
In order to ensure punctuality and discipline in all the University Departments/ Sections, it was decided in the meeting to introduce Biometric Attendance System from April 2016.
Vice Chancellor also called upon all the stakeholders of the University to ensure the usage of Licensed Software and for this purpose a committee was also constituted to check that a licensed software is in place in every department and section of the University.
During the deliberation, Deans/ Heads/Rectors/ Directors also resolved that they will persuade the students of their departments not to get swayed by the incidents like JNU and also ensure that such type of protests are not organized within the campus which may vitiate the peaceful atmosphere of the University.
Earlier the Heads, Rectors, Directors and officers of the University apprised the Vice Chancellor about the major academic, research, developmental and other activities beside ongoing and future projects.
The Vice Chancellor took an exhaustive review of the ongoing and planned projects designed to further strengthening the infrastructural development.
