JAMMU, Jan 15: The Lane Number 4 and 6 of Vasuki Vihar, Gurah Bantalab has been plunged into complete darkness for last five days after the local transformer developed a snag.
The residents said that there was no power in the area on the auspicious day of Lohri and the inhabitants were forced to celebrate the seasonal festival in darkness.
They said despite the repeated pleas to PDD authorities no steps were taken to restore the power supply in the area by replacing the transformer with a new one.
They said since the January 11 when the transformer developed the snag they have been repeatedly requesting the concerned authorities of replacing the same but to no avail.
The residents said the old and infirm people are facing many hardships due to power failure while the students whose exams are drawing near are unable to study at their homes due to darkness. The inverters could not be also charged due to power failure, they added.
