JAMMU, July 10: Media activist Dr Varun Suthra has been appointment as the Founding Secretary for India of Democracy Without Borders (DWB).
In this position, his primary role would be to lead and coordinate the establishment of an Indian chapter of DWB in collaboration with the prospective founding President, Dr Achyuta Samanta, Members of the Indian Parliament and other relevant individuals from India who may join the chapter as founding members.
DWB is an international civil society organization that advocates global democracy, the notion of global citizenship and international collaboration. Its main campaigns promote the creation of a United Nations Parliamentary Assembly (UNPA) as well as of the instrument of a UN World Citizen’s Initiative. DWB has its global headquarters in Berlin Germany.
“The creation of DWB-India will represent a major milestone in our efforts. We are delighted to have Dr Suthra as Founding Secretary to spearhead this endeavour,” said Andreas Bummel, Executive Director, DWB in a statement issued today.
