Vaishno Devi Yatra progressing smoothly, do not pay heed to rumours: Shrine Board to Pilgrims

JAMMU: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board on Tuesday appealed to the pilgrims from across the country that the pilgrimage to the cave shrine is smoothly progressing and do not pay heed to rumours.
Situation in J&K remained peaceful after revocation of Article 370. Administration imposed restrictions, which were lifted later while mobile internet service still remains snapped.
“There are no untoward like incident and no suspension or cancellation of yatra and it is smoothly progressing,” an official Twitter handler of the Shrine Board wrote on micro-blogging site.
It further appealed to the pilgrims that do not pay heed to rumours about Yatra.
Meanwhile an official here said that though there was an impact of prevailing J&K situation on Yatra post Abrogation of Article 370 but still good number of pilgrims are visiting to the cave shrine.
“At an average daily 12,000 to 15,000 pilgrims are arriving Katra to reach Bhawan,” they said and added that in the weekend, the figure is between 18,000 to 20,000, which is normal during monsoon period evey year.
However, the chopper service from Katra to Sanjhi Chhat also remained suspended for the past three days due to fight weather conditions in the Trikuta Hills.
