*4th Ladakh dPal-rNgam-Duston commences

LEH, Nov 1: In his first public address after assuming the charge of LG of UT Ladakh, RK Mathur today said that the status of UT has opened new doors of opportunities for Ladakh along with challenges.
Mathur was addressing the public during 4th Ladakh dPal-rNgam-Duston which commenced today at NDS Stadium in Leh. The celebration was witnessed by the first Lt Governor of Ladakh, Radha Krishna Mathur as the chief guest. He said that it is moment of pride and glory for every Ladakhi to step into the UT of Ladakh with the celebration of such an auspicious festival.
He stressed on the role of every Ladakhi including his administration to grab the opportunities and win over the challenges as the objective in taking Ladakh on the path of development and prosperity. He informed that a developmental package will be announced by Centre for Ladakh and soon decision making works will begin ensuring exploration of developmental potential in every sector.
The Lt Governor assured the people of Ladakh that his office along with Hill Council and district administration will make efforts in fulfilling the wishes and aspiration of its people. He said that in UT of Ladakh decision making will be faster with more appropriateness and correctness in utilization of funds and work implementation. He assured to deal with development of tourism sector with cautious and sensitive approach.
In his address, Gyal said that the purpose of celebrating Ladakh dPal-rNgam Duston as an annual feature by LAHDC, Leh is to promote historical and cultural heritage of Ladakh and infuse moral values among the youngsters to carry forward this inherited legacy for generations to come. He strongly insists on communal unity and the need for Leh and Kargil to stand united in ensuring a strong foundation for UT of Ladakh.
Speaking on the occasion, MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal appealed the people of Ladakh not to go by rumors spread around non attainment of 6th schedule. He said that things will fall into place at its own time and he is making all the efforts along with Hill Council at all the levels in getting whatever is deserved by Ladakhis in running a successful UT.
On the occasion, former Member Parliament Thupstan Chhewang was conferred with the award of Ladakh dPal-rNgam Duston-2019 for his unparallel contributions in achieving UT for Ladakh. The kins of late Nawang, Dorjey and Stobdan were also honored on the occasion for their supreme sacrifices during UT struggle.
Sculptor Tsering Gyurmet Kyungyam who made the statue of King Singhe Namgyal and sculptor Cheemet for creating the Black Necked Cranes were also honored.
Earlier, a big cultural procession of guests along with mock- play of King, Queen and other Royal members carried out from Leh Palace, passing through Leh main market, Leh gate and culminated at NDS ground where the main function of Ladakh dPal-rNgam Duston was held.
On their way to the venue, a highly impressive statue of legendary King Singhe Namgyal was unveiled at Skatsags chowk. Moreover, figures of two Black Necked Cranes at the premises of Tourist Information Centre were also inaugurated by the guests.
