USTA projects demands

JAMMU, Dec 13: J&K United School Teachers Association (USTA) held a meeting under the chairmanship of its provincial president Hari Singh.
While speaking, Hari Singh criticized the policies of Central and State Government to privatize and commercialize education, which has resulted in deterioration in the serving and working condition of the teachers. Moreover it has resulted in deprivation of the vast masses from the basic education, he added.
He further stated that USTA will show full solidarity with the demands and struggle launched by ReT teachers and condemned the attitude of the State Government for not conceding their genuine and long pending demands including release of pending salary, regularization, release of pending mid-day meal charges and implementation of transparent transfer policy in the Education Department.
He lambasted the State Government for not holding the DPC of Teachers to Masters, Masters to Headmasters and Lecturers and even Class IV employees. He also criticized the authorities for not releasing the senior Teacher Grade in favour of under graduate teachers, clearing large number of permission and other routine work files of teachers pending in various offices of the Education Department and engaging large number of teachers on non-academic duties.
The participants urged the Government to immediately concede the demands of the teaching community otherwise USTA will be compelled to resort to agitational path.
Among others present in the meeting were Rajive Kumar, Roop Lal, Pardeep Singh, Shanti Saroop Sharma, Raj Kumar, Noor Alam, Madan Singh, Nisar Mohammad, etc.
