JAMMU, Apr 19: The executive committee of J&K United School Teachers Association (USTA) held a telephonic discussion over the burning issues of teaching community and projected demands, here.
While taking stock of the recent initiatives taken by the Principal Secretary, Education, Dr Asgar Hasan Samoon to resolve the long pending and genuine demands of the teaching community, USTA said the steps were appreciable if implemented in letter and spirit.
In a memorandum submitted to Principal Secretary, USTA projected a series of demands. The demands included modification of hard hit transfer orders of masters and lecturers made by the Director of School Education, Jammu; transfer of all teachers, masters and lecturers who are working for the last 2-5 years in far flung areas as well as out of their districts; release of salary of Head Teachers for the month of October, November, December 2019 and Feb-Mar 2020 and arrears of 7th Pay Commission including DA arrear in their favour; creation of posts of masters working in upper primary schools under SSA now SAMAGRA on the pattern of RMSA; regularization of all In-charge Lecturers including Physical Education Lectures, Headmasters, ZEOs, ZPEOs and Principals who are working in their own pay and grade since long; conversion of all left out RRETs in teacher grade II or III and release 18 to 20 months pending salary of RReTs regularized during the year 2014 to 2018; provision of subject teachers to schools; adjustment of all left out newly promoted lecturers at an earliest and introduction of pre-primary classes with infrastructure in all schools.
The other demands included debarment of teachers from all types of non-academic official duties including BLO etc; regulation of In-Situ promotions in favour of undergraduate teachers appointed between 1992-1997 in district Kathua; provision of class 4th and clerical staff in all educational institutions and enhancement of suitably monthly wages/honorarium of CPW/water women/mid-day meal workers who are working on meagre honorarium of less than rupees 20 per day.
The executive members who took part in discussion included Rajeev Kumar, President; Hari Singh, General Secretary, Yunus Rahi, Bashir Hussain, Roop Chand, Shirajuddin , Raj Kumar, Sunil Thappa, Pardeep Singh, Kanta Devi and Zulifkar Ali Malik.
