RAJOURI, Apr 19: Former Minister Ch Zulfkar Ali today demanded Scheduled Tribes (ST) representation in the newly constituted commission for socially educationally backward classes by Jammu and Kashmir Government, headed by retired High Court judge.
“The exclusion of ST members from the newly constituted commission is showing the mindset of present dispensation toward them and also explicit that how it will deal with schedule tribes community in the near future,” he said.
“However, the purpose of the commission is to examine the current list of socially and educationally backward classes, examine the respective orders enacted by the erstwhile Governments time to time for the welfare of the community but without representation of ST members, it makes mockery of the system by failing to give adequate representation,” he said.
He also urged upon the Lieutenant Governor, G C Murmu to appoint at least one member from the Schedule Tribe community in the newly constituted commission. He also expressed hope that PMO will intervene in this matter and rectify the error as soon as possible.
