Uptick in demand lifts chana futures by 0.74%

NEW DELHI, Feb 22: Chana prices went up by 0.74 per cent to Rs 3,922 per quintal in futures market today as participants raised bets amid rising demand from dal mills in the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in March shot up by Rs 29, or 0.74 per cent, to Rs 3,922 per quintal with an open interest of 77,390 lots.
Similarly, the commodity for delivery in April contracts was trading higher by Rs 25, or 0.64 per cent, at Rs 3,946 per quintal in 45,590 lots.
Analysts attributed the rise in chana futures prices to fresh positions created by traders following upsurge in demand from dal mills in the physical market against restricted supplies from producing regions. (PTI)
