Upgrading Border Infra

The 2289 kms long border shared by India with Pakistan has never been as silent and peaceful as of today. Last few years of red hot border was full of uncertainty, no one knew when the shelling will start or when it will stop. Pakistan openly violated set international norms of targeting the border villages with impunity causing massive losses to the general public, it is also a fact when India retaliated Pakistan was unable to bear the brunt of attack and thus relented for ceasefire. For years together farmers of border areas were unable to plough their fields and suffered immense materialistic and livelihood losses but situation has changed a lot recently. The economic damage to Pakistan due to COVID is beyond imagination as such it is not in a position at all to match India who planned so meticulously that it is now the fifth largest economy of the world and aiming for third spot in few more years. On the other hand Pakistan is running from pillar to post to arrange for even interest money. Additionally the military pressure put up by Indian forces has been too much for Pakistan Army to sustain the conflict. Small skirmishes do have taken place but more or less border guns are silent. But as in the past, we can never trust Pakistan as such there is no point in lowering our guard. Our armed forces very well know this fact and planned accordingly to upgrade/repair our infra all along the IB/LOC, proposal sent to GoI which accorded the sanctions and funds released. The result is unprecedented up gradation of infra, ordinary jawan bunkers to solar powered all weather modern bunkers, border fencing strengthened and repairs done wherever necessary, technical equipment is being installed to track drones and cross border movement of intruders via tunnels or through border fencing, assisting jawans by passing on pre-warning signals. Farmers are being allowed to tiller their lands after a gap of many years. The kucha roads used by tanks to reach border frontier have also been repaired. GoI is rightly focusing on the overhauling of defence preparedness of India, Apache and Chinook helicopters purchased to strengthen the logistic and firepower support to the ground forces. Advance Landing Grounds are being prepared along with helicopter launch pads. The ditches all along the border had not been cleaned/repaired for a long time have been taken care of now. These ditches are frontally first roadblock for enemy tanks to cross over to Indian side and serves the purpose of irrigation as well. This peacetime is being rightly utilised by present GoI and LG administration as lots of civil works are also being done all along the border The aim is simple, get maximum benefit out of the present situation as in today’s modern warfare the arms and ammunition are so advance in the shape of increased power and distance of gunfire and artillery power so much so that cities deep inside areas are vulnerable to the enemy shelling. India has even purchased S400 air defence system from Russia, each and every aspect is being taken care of keeping in view of hostilities between India and Pakistan. GoI in tandem with LG Administration are devising new strategies to safeguard the interests of the local villagers. Motor able roads are being built as focus and aim is simple – roads, radars and reserves. Both kutcha roads used by tanks and pucca roads for connectivity being built for quick as well as better mobility and every effort is being put to improve the reserves of everything close to the front. Allotted budget has been increased manifolds and the development of infra all along the border villages is visible beyond any doubt. No more things are left to speculations, continuous efforts are being put to have a proactive approach as preempt and act is the official policy now.
