Upgrade Jagti Hospital to handle COVID surge: Global Solace

JAMMU, May 8: Even after upgrading the Jagti Camp Hospital to a Sub-district Hospital but despite repeated representations that the Hospital caters to more than 15000 people in the Jagti camp and surrounding villages, lacks basic amenities ranging from fans to drinking water and not to speak of necessary and immediate medicines, standard medical equipment including X-Ray Machine, Latest Ultra Sound Machine, Operation Theatre /Oxygen beds etc.
As the present situation is alarming and case load is increasing day by day, the people of Jagti township despite having a hospital of their own have to rush their patients to city about 20 km away for even a minor procedure said Pintoo Ji Pandita, a social activist and president of Global Solace Society.
He said as it is becoming clearer that the current mutant spreads more in congested and well concentrated habitations, Jagti Camp is at an increased risk for this wave as well future wave.
While there is an urgent need of creating a COVID facility within the hospital with Oxygen beds, the Hospital administration must have non-COVID operations by creating a separate entry and space for COVID tests and consultations of suspects so that hospital itself doesn’t become a spreader. The Hospital is also understaffed and needs to have more staff at this crucial time.
Given the Oxygen demand/supply situation, there is also need of a Mini Oxygen Plant at the hospital.
“The residents are reiterating demands for Oximeters, Oxygen cylinders, flow meters, beds, OT and ventilators besides other equipment and necessary medicines to make the hospital fully functional at this crucial time,” he added .
