UPA’s policies pro-poor: MP

JAMMU, Oct 4: Member Parliament Jammu Poonch Constituency M L Sharma has termed the policies of UPA Government as pro-poor and called upon the Panchayats to ensure the benefit of Centrally Sponsored schemes to the people. Mr. Sharma called upon the people to strengthen the bond of brotherhood for the overall development of the State. He said that peace, amity and brotherhood are pre-requisite for the progress and prosperity of the state or society.  He asked people to  be aware of the Communal forces which will try to divide for their vested interests.  He was addressing gathering at Kangrail in district Jammu.
Mr. Sharma said that during the past 9-10 years as MP, he has tried to address the aspirations of people from all communities, districts and faiths without any discrimination and will continue to work for the development of his constituency in every possible manner.  He also asked the party men to gear up for the forthcoming challenges and popularize the pro-poor decisions taken by the UPA Government at the Centre in the shape of bringing Food Security Bill, protection for the street vendors and Land Reform Bill etc.
Elaborating further Mr. Sharma said that Food Security Bill will provide subsidized ration to 75-80% people of the Country. Ensuring people right to food by this Act, he said no one in the Country will sleep empty stomach. He also lauded the UPA Govt. for passage of the street vendors (Protection and Promotion of Livelihood Bill 2011).
Earlier, the MP dedicated 100 KVA transformer to the people of Panchayat Kangrail installed under MP LADS Scheme. Prominent among other present on the occasion included Kuldeep Raj Verma Vice Chairman OBC, Rajesh Bitto, Hukum Chand, Sarpanch Raj Dev Singh, Capt. K.L Sharma, Gurbachan Singh, Ram Paul Sharma, Rattan Singh and Kamal Pradhan.
