Medical employees continue strike

SAMBA Oct 4: Deputy Commissioner, Samba, R.K Varma today ordered an enquiry into the incident that took place at District Hospital Samba and the reported death of a girl due to Dengue fever causing law and order problem in the hospital premises.
The DC has asked Additional Deputy Commissioner, Samba to conduct the inquiry and furnish the report within 15 days positively.
This was stated in an official handout issued here today. It said the DC has given assurance to the agitating people at Samba to do all the needful in the matter including ordering of an inquiry by a senior officer in the whole episode to ascertain the facts.
Meanwhile the strike of doctors, para medical staff and class fourth employees at District Hospital Samba and other Government Hospitals of the district continued for fifth consecutive day in protest against the manhandling of CMO Samba and other staff members by the frenzy mob on Monday protesting against the death of a girl due to Dengue fever. However the emergency services continued to function normally.
The striking employees also held protesting demonstrations demanding action against the people responsible for attack on CMO and other staff members and security to the doctors and staff members in District Hospital Samba by installing CRPF guard there. They also demanded action against the police officers in whose presence the CMO was attacked and they looked as a mute spectator instead of protecting him.
To express solidarity with striking medical employees of Samba district a team of Jammu and Kashmir Medical Employees Federation, Jammu led by its president Sushil Kumar Sudan today visited the Accidental Hospital Vijaypur, CHC Ramgarh and D H Samba and addressed the employees there who were protesting against the manhandling of CMO Samba and other staff members.
Mr Sudan warned that the medical employees of entire Jammu region to join the strike in case their demands were not settled by tomorrow.
The Federation is demanding an enquiry by an impartial body in the District Hospital Samba incident that took place on September 30.
It also demanded action against those who assaulted the CMO Samba, action against the police officers and police personnel in whose presence CMO and others were assaulted by mob and installing of CRPF guard at District Hospital Samba.
