SRINAGAR, Nov 12: Alleging irregularities in selection of firemen in the Jammu and Kashmir Fire and Emergency Service Department, scores of unsuccessful candidates demanded a probe and intervention by Lt Governor in the alleged scam.
Raising slogans, the candidates were holding placards which read, “JK fire service scam, biggest pandemic”, “LG Sinha Sahab wake up” and “Paisa Do Naukri Lo”.

Unsuccessful candidates from different parts of the valley had assembled at Press Enclave near here, alleging irregularities in the selection of candidate for the post of firemen. We appeared in the examinations for the post of firemen and drivers but there was a massive recruitment scam, they alleged and demanded a fair and thorough probe in the recruitment.
The candidates had appeared in the written recruitment test on September 20, for 880 seats advertised back in 2013. They candidates said they were shocked to see most qualified aspirants not making the final cut. Graduates and postgraduates were dropped while matriculates were selected in the written test, they alleged. They further alleged that the paper was leaked on social media hours before the scheduled examination timing. They threatened to intensify their agitation if justice was denied to them.
