JAMMU, Nov 12: The SC/ST/OBC students today held a protest against the J&K administration.
The protest was led by social activist Vikas Badhoria and Ajay Lakhotra, senior members of the United Federation.
While speaking on the occasion, Badhoria said that the administration doesn’t pay attention to the grievances of reserved categories and discriminate against them. As the new session has started and the admission process began, still students didn’t get their scholarship in their account. He said they have already submitted a memorandum to the Divisional Commissioner office about two weeks ago but no one has resolved their problem.
He said as the world is suffering from the COVID pandemic and financial conditions students belong to these community is not good and the scholarship is only the source to fulfill their educational requirements. The administration must pay attention towards grievances of the students of the downtrodden community.
Ajay Lakhotra alleged that Social Welfare Department has failed to do justice with the students. Many forms of the students were rejected for irrelevant reasons. The scholarship is the only source for some students to continue their students and delay in the scholarship led to the disruption in their scholarship.
Lakhotra warned the administration that if the administration doesn’t solve their grievances within the time then for SC/ST/OBC Students Federation will sit on hunger strike as education is the only hope for their better future.
Narinder Bhasin social activist said that for the last 3 years the Social Welfare Department is continuously delaying the scholarship process and students don’t get their scholarship on time which led to frustration among the students.
Mahesh Kumar, Anshu Meenia, Sapna Devi, Sunny Kumar, Sonia Bharti, Sonali Bhagat, Kajal Mehra and Rashid Khan also spoke on the occasion.
