Mantlai has been described as major religious pilgrimage destination for the devotees of Lord Shiva to visit. Legends say that the marriage of Lord Shiva was with Goddess Parvati daughter of Raja Himachal was held at Mantalai. This sacred place has many unexplored archeological and historical sites of ancient times. Apart from religious importance of Mantalai this area is also called as Dream land of Swami Dhirendra Brahamchari, the Yoga Guru of Late P M Smt Indira Gandhi.
Brahamchari had raised multi-million infrastructure at this place for a World class Yoga Research Centre under the name of Aparna Ashram Mantalai. During the time of Swami Dhirendra Brahamchari regular Yoga classes were held here with participation of large number of foreigners. The Air strip was constructed, fleet of vehicles and machinery was purchased and there was a plan to develop Mantalai as mini-Singapur. With sudden death of Swami Ji all the development collapsed at Mantalai. The drum beater of equal development of all regions should explain why a fully developed station like Mantalai turned into ruins. Thanks to the Present Govt of India and PMO sufficient grant was sanctioned for development at Mantalai. The Development has started but public need clarification that what is being constructed at Mantalai. It is Yoga University as promised or something else. It is a Govt project or under P P Mode. There is no Sign Board at Mantalai to tell all this. The company engaged on the job has no senior officer to tell. There is no repair and renovation of old Buildings of Aparna Ashram. We cannot keep public in the dark. People were told that International Yoga University will be constructed at Mantalai. Before the public arise at its own, the Govt must install a Sign Board at Mantalai showing project cast and details to remove the public doubt.
