United Secular Forum for early DGPC polls

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, July 28: United Secular Forum (J&K) has demanded early conduct of  District Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (DGPC) elections and probe into the misuse of  funds (offerings)  by some committee members who are  not interested in further elections and dragging Sikh Sangat into litigation.
In a joint press statement here members of several Sikh bodies including Sikh Welfare Society, BNSS, Sikh Student Federation and Sikh Naujwan Sabha demanded that elections to the DGPC should be held without any delay. They said that term of  the body has already been expired  and some vested interests are dragging the issue in litigation. They appealed the Sikh Sangat to show such members their place in the next DGPC elections and demanded inquiry into the misuse of Gurdwara funds.
They alleged that some people have gone to the High Court just to save their skin  and the public will not spare them. They have their own agenda to grab public money and even no audit of  the funds have been conducted since 2008. They urged the state administration to initiate action against the people involved in the unfair means and misuse of public donations.
