Srinagar, Apr 19: Police today said they have recovered an unidentified from Indus River in Batalik Sector of Kargil district.
A police officer said that a 35-year old male body was recovered this morning from Indus in the Batalik Sector near Line of Control (LoC). He said so far the body remains unidentified and no one has claimed it.
He said the police are investigating whether the deceased is from Indian side or Pakistani side since the LoC falls near. “We also suspect that he is from across as no one has come forward for his body so far. If that would be the case then we will hand over the body to Pakistani authorities,” the police officer said.
He said the body as of now has been kept in a morgue and a case has been registered in this regard.
