RAJOURI, Jan 17: Unemployed youth blocked Jammu- Poonch highway at Sunderbani and held peacefully protest today, demanding conduct of written test for Army recruitment.
A large number of youth from Sunderbani sub division assembled at main chowk at Sunderbani town today during the day and started strong protest demonstration. They were projecting their issue and demanding conduct of written test for Army recruitment.
Earlier, they came to Dak Bungalow Sunderbani and then under the leadership of Chairman Block Development Council (BDC) Sunderbani, Arun Kumar Sharma they took out a peaceful protest. Later, they blocked the main Jammu-Poonch highway. A long traffic jam was created there.
BDC chairman alleged that Jammu & Kashmir Government has failed in providing employment to J&K youth. He said many youths are going to be over aged. Army recruitment process has been delayed. Many times Army has released written test date in newspapers but J&K Government didn’t give permission for written test due to Covid- 19.
Meanwhile Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Sunderbani, Vinod Kumar Benhal rushed to the spot and assured the youths that their demand will be taken up with concerned authorities. Then they lifted their protest dharna from the busy highway.
