Unemployed degree engineers’ plea to Govt

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Dec 2: The unemployed degree engineers in Electric and Telecommunication streams have made an appeal to Government to fill up the vacant posts of junior engineers in various engineering wings of the Union Territory to provide jobs to unemployed degree and Post graduate engineers.
In an appeal to Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha these unemployed engineers mostly belonging to Electric and Telecommunication streams said that despite qualifying the degrees over some years back they are without job and have become a burden on their old age parents now.
They said that hundreds of posts of junior engineers are lying vacant in various departments including Power Development Department, Power Development Corporation and other allied engineering wings in UT of J&K for a pretty long time.
They demanded that on the pattern of Rehbar -e- Sehat, Rehbar-e-Zirat and Rehbar -e-Taleem a scheme be also launched in engineering departments which too face the shortage of manpower to adjust the unemployed engineers so that they are relieved of desperation faced by them due to their unemployment.
They showed concern that on the one hand there is shortage of engineers in various departments and on the other hand the Government is not taking any steps to adjust the unemployed engineers.
