LONDON, Feb 25: The United Kingdom does not rule out Russia’s return to the Group of Seven (G7), and this will be a subject of discussion with London’s allies, UK Deputy Home Secretary for Security Dan Jarvis said.
“That will be a matter to be discussed with international allies. And that is a matter that no doubt will be considered at the point at which the conflict in Ukraine has been concluded,” Jarvis told The Times when asked whether Russia should be allowed to rejoin the G7.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer may raise the issue of Russia’s return to the G7 in future talks with US President Donald Trump, Jarvis added.
Earlier in February, Trump said that he would like to see Russia back in the G7, calling the decision to expel the country from the political forum in 2014 a “mistake.” (UNI)
