UDHAMPUR, Oct 3: Total 27 candidates are in fray for the post of president and other positions in Udhampur Beopar Mandal as four more aspirants submitted their paper on the last date of filing nomination today.
The Market Committee polls will be held on October 12 and a three- member committee has been framed under the chairmanship of Advocate Shashi Gupta to conduct election.
There are a total of four candidates in the fray for the post of president of Beopar Mandal, elections of which are being held after 30 years. The candidates who are for the post of president, include Vikram Singh Slathia, Suriender Singh Khalsa, Jugal Kishore and Kamal Gupta. Total 23 candidates have filed their nominations for the various posts, including vice president and general secretary. 1453 members of the Beopar Mandal will cast their vote in the election.
According to Advocate Shashi Gupta, scrutiny of the papers will be done on October 6 and October 7 has been fixed as last date for withdrawal of nominations. Polling will be held on October 12 and results will be announced on October 13, he added.
