Two women among 4 die of COVID in Jammu, two in Valley; 274 test +ve

Two casualties in Ladakh, 5 fresh cases

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/LEH, July 5: Six persons died of COVID-19—four in Jammu region and two in Kashmir while 274 tested positive for the virus in the Union Territory today.
After about a fortnight, Ladakh also reported two COVID casualties while the positive cases came down to five.
Of four fatalities in Jammu region, two were reported from Poonch district and one each in Jammu and Doda. Two of the victims were women.
A 39-year-old woman hailing from Bishnah died of Coronavirus at Mann Medicity SSH Jallandhar today.
A 60-year-old man from Gandoh in Doda district succumbed to the virus at Government Medical College (GMC) Doda after 27 days of hospitalization.
An 80-year-old woman of Ward No. 1 Poonch, who had no co-morbidities passed away at the District Hospital Poonch due to COVID-19 while 70-year-old man from Harni in the same district breathed his last at Community Health Centre (CHC) Mendhar.
Reasi district in Jammu region continued to report higher cases mainly because of the travelers who were testing positive for pathogen at Katra Railway Station.
Among 113 COVID positive cases reported in Jammu region today, 72 were registered in Reasi district and all of them were travelers.
Udhampur district, however, didn’t report any positive cases today.
The positives in other districts include 10 in Poonch, eight Rajouri, six Doda, five Ramban, four each in Jammu and Kishtwar and two each in Samba and Kathua districts.
As against 113 fresh cases today, 177 recovered from the virus.
Jammu region’s COVID cases now stood at 1,20,209.
Among them, 1665 are active positives while 1,16,425 have recovered from the virus and there have been 2119 casualties.
The fatalities include 1136 in Jammu district, 220 Rajouri, 149 Kathua 131 Udhampur, 119 each in Doda and Samba, 94 Poonch, 65 Ramban and 43 each in Kishtwar and Reasi districts.
Meanwhile, the Union Territory of Ladakh today reported two Corona casualties and five new cases.
A 51-year-old Nepali and 79-year-old man from Pinchemik, Nubra, both in Leh district died of COVID-19 today.
Of five new cases, three were reported in Leh district and two in Kargil.
Ladakh’s Corona count now stood at 20120. There are 226 active positive cases as 19690 have been treated and there were 204 fatalities including 146 in Leh and 58 in Kargil.
Meanwhile, Kashmir today reported 161 new COVID-19 cases while two more persons succumbed to the virus.
Srinagar reported 53 cases, Baramulla 10, Budgam 12, Pulwama 19, Kupwara 16, Anantnag 19, Bandipora 6, Ganderbal 12, Kulgam 12 and Shopian 2.
Srinagar has 70345 positive cases with 724 active, 68792 recovered, 829 deaths; Baramulla has 23329 positive cases with 226 active, 22823 recovered, 280 deaths; Budgam reported 22668 positive cases with 214 active cases, 22250 recovered, 204 deaths; Pulwama has 14945 positive cases with 159 active, 14594 recovered and 192 deaths; Kupwara has 13882 positive cases, 194 active, 13523 recoveries, 165 deaths;  Anantnag district has 16172 positive cases with 143 active, 15825 recovered, 204 deaths;  Bandipora has 9344 positive cases, with 103 active, 9141 recoveries, 100 deaths; Ganderbal has 9672 positive cases with 182 active, 9414 recoveries and 76 deaths; Kulgam has 11123 positive cases with 154 active, 10853 recoveries  and 116 deaths while as Shopian has 5561 positive cases with 10 active cases, 5493recoveries and 58 deaths.
Moreover, 461 more COVID-19 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours including 284 from Kashmir.  So far 309133 patients have recovered, leaving active cases at 3774 including 2109 in Kashmir.
