Two prisoners injured in clash at District Jail Kathua

KATHUA, Apr 6: Two jail inmates were injured after they were attacked by another inmate while they were cooking meals in District Jail Kathua this morning.
Among the two injured the condition of one is stated to be critical and he has been referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu by doctors from District Hospital Kathua.
Police said that this morning when two prisoners identified as Dilshad alias Kallu S/o Mohammed Hussian of Kathua and Zorawar Singh another prisoner also of Kathua were cooking meals in District Jail Kathua, Dilshad was attacked by another prisoner identified as Saddam Hussian S/ Ahmed Hussian of Mendhar, Poonch with iron rod. Saddam  is undergoing trial in the jail under Section 302 of IPC.
Zorawar who too was sitting besides Dilshad also received some injuries while Dilshad got serious injury on his back. Three policemen on duty in the jail however managed to control Saddam and separated him. Later the duo was given the first aid in the jail, but as the condition of Dilshad deteriorated  both of them were taken to DH Kathua where Zorawar was admitted for treatment and Dilsahd was referred to GMC as his condition was critical.
The jail authorities brought the matter in the notice of Kathua Police which has started the investigation.
Police said that Saddam is a notorious criminal who is involved in various crimes also.
