Two oil tanker drivers held for diesel smuggling

JAMMU, Oct 17: Two oil tanker drivers were arrested today by Jammu Police for smuggling of diesel.
“Police Post Narwal received information from reliable sources that an oil tanker bearing registration number JK02AT-9208 loaded with diesel was supposed to deliver oil at GREF, but the oil tanker did not reach at GREF and instead unloaded the oil to another tanker which was to be sent to Kishtwar,” a police spokesman said.
He said acting on the information, a team of Police Post Narwal under the supervision of SDPO East Syed Zaheer Abbas Jafari was constituted. He said the police team led by SHO Police Station Bahu Fort Inspector Nayat Ali assisted by Incharge PP Narwal PSI Lalit Kumar rounded up two suspects on two different oil tankers bearing registration numbers JK02BF-0328 and JK02AT-9208 at a special naka while tankers were on their way from Jammu towards Kishtwar.
“In this regard, a case under relevant sections was registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and both the accused identified as Joginder Singh son of Davi Chand of Chanani and Gurmail Singh son of Joginder Singh, resident of House number 192, Sector – 07, Nanak Nagar,” the spokesman added.
He said that involvement of GREF is also under suspicion in the case. Further investigation of the case is going on, he further added.
