Two killed in road mishaps

JAMMU, Oct 26: Two persons including a 5-year-old child was killed today in two separate road mishaps in Nagrota area of city outskirts.
According to a police official, an unknown vehicle today at about 12 noon hit a bike bearing registration number JK02AR-0145 at Jagti on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. He said that in the mishap, two youth identified as Amit Gupta (28) son of Suraj Parkash and Rohit Bamotra (25) son of Pawan Kumar, both residents of Chenani (Udhampur), who were travelling on the bike, sustained serious injuries.
“The ambulance of National Highway Authority of India shifted both the injured youth to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where Amit Gupta expired at about 4 PM”, he said, adding after completing all medico-legal formalities the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites. The Nagrota police has registered a case in this connection and started investigations.
Meanwhile, a rashly driven mini-bus bearing registration number JK02AV-3319 this evening hit a 5-year-old child namely Amit Kumar son of Ajay Kumar, resident of Dhok Waziraan (Nagrota), at Dhok Waziraan and killed him on the spot.
The body of the deceased child was shifted to mortuary room of GMCH Jammu for postmortem while police had registered a case in this connection and arrested the accused driver, who was identified as Ranjeet Singh, son of Padam Singh, resident of Dhok Waziraan. The mini-bus involved in the mishap was also seized by the police.
